Shtick, a word I learnt fairly recently is a talent, style, habit, or other eccentricity for which a person is particularly well-known for. So as a writer, what is your shtick? (derived from the Yiddish word shtik (שטיק), meaning “piece”)
Do you just write humorous pieces or do you only pen down words that make your readers shed tears or you dip your imagination in dreams and take your readers to a fantasy land? Whatever your shtick, do you keep it or vary from it?
Is a writer better off sticking to his or her shtick? As for me, it depends when and about what I am writing. Would love to know how different writers do it.
